Recap of patient privacy summit featured in time-released pill form


In case you missed the Health Privacy Summit, organizers released the first of a series of edited summaries

AUSTIN, Texas, June 29, 2011 – Organizers of the  Health Privacy Summit released  the following videos of featured keynote speakers today.

  • Jeff Rosen, Author and Professor of Law at George Washington University, interviewed Alan Westin, Author, Of Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor, Arnall Golden and Gregory, Atlanta and Washington DC, for the keynote session titled, “What do research and history tell us about privacy today?”
  •  Joy Pritts, Chief Privacy Officer, Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, Department of Health and Human Services presented “Putting the “I” in Health IT Privacy and Security: How Consumers can be part of the policy-making process”.

The interactive summit included audience participation in work groups in efforts to identify urgent health privacy priorities and immediate policy steps to deliver responsible and realistic solutions.

The summit was jointly hosted by The Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs for The University of Texas (Austin) and the Patient Privacy Rights Foundation.  It was the official pre-conference of the 2011 Computer’s Freedom Privacy conference held in Washing ton, D.C. at Georgetown University earlier this month.
